SCG provides complete design solutions for businesses, urban planning/design, and spatial brand marketing. Our company also develops, designs, and manages architectural and interior solutions for businesses and clients worldwide. In SCG, we are committed to exploring the communicative potentials of spatial relations. Networks are dependent on the connections and disconnections of spatial relations. Bridges connect land, doors connect rooms, windows connect the outside with the inside, and these sites of transition are important modes of communication, tacitly speaking to the people occupying, utilizing and engaging with these architectural configurations. In our work—including Mug Hakdong, The Void, and the CJ Live City, SHINSEGAE Starfield LAB, among others—we are especially determined to discover the aesthetic grammar of this spatial language, and the ways in which it continuously communicates with our way of living.

Through our books —『Where Do You Want to Live?』 and  『What Cities Live By』—we have developed and outlined a unique design approach based on an attentiveness to the situatedness of architectural spaces and non-spaces as these engage with human perception, and the symbolic information this interaction generates. We call this dynamic process ‘infotecture’, a term central to our understanding of good design solutions.

The contemporary world is entangled in a multitude of complex and convoluted contexts. SCG follows the belief that simpler is better, and that design essentially consists of the challenge of discovering possibilities within restrictive circumstances. The architectural imagination fills out the void, the vacancies, and the empty spaces disseminated throughout our habitats. Our task is to engage with all these inoperative relations, to fill in the blanks, to envision the blind angles, to discover the polyphonic voices of silence, and thus to reinvigorate the dormant potentials of space. Traversing the empty space to the architectural imagination, SCG provides a complete design solution that caters not only to the physical needs of people, but also to the inner, spiritual longings of what makes us who we are.
